Stand Up! For the Homeless
Thank you to all those that attended and made this event a success. Special thanks to Shanin, Kevin, all of the comedians and Alt Theatre!
The Alt Theatre presents a showcase of stand-up comedy hosted by
Shanin Allen and Kevin Carlin.
The Crisis Services Homeless Outreach Program is hosting a Stand-Up Comedy Event with proceeds to directly benefit the Homeless Outreach Program. Funds are used to purchase items and help support homeless individuals in our local community. Admission is only $10 and tickets can be purchased at the door. A basket raffle will be held and refreshments will be served. Please join us on Saturday, July 19th at 7 p.m. and enjoy the many comics that are featured in this comedy showcase! Homelessness is a serious issue that dramtically affects our community. In Erie County, 2,100 people are considered homeless on any night. Many are found in area shelters, which can accommodate up to 600 people. Others live on the streets or "doubled up" with family and friends in untenable situations. As of 2007 the United States Census Bureau named Buffalo, New York the second poorest large city in the United States. For more information on homelessness in our local community and what you can do to help, please visit the Homeless Alliance of Western New York's website. |
