I have been actively working as a visual artist in the Western New York community for the past decade.
My artwork focuses on creativity as a form of self expression to help heal and guide the mind, body and spirit. Most of my work consists of self-expressive mixed media collage and expressive oil painting. I describe my artwork as possessing an ethereal and often visceral quality which is partly inspired by the music I obsessively enjoy. I refer to my oil paintings as ‘wavescapes’ that are often motivated by my love of sailing. You can clearly visualize the element of water in the linear forms I frequently layer in my oil painting along with the technique I use of blurring forms as if they are submersed in water. When I am creating mixed media collage pieces I search for imagery in my environment that resonate the ethereal & feminine quality of nature. I often involve written languages/lyrics in my mixed media collages to further express my response to my social, emotional and political environment.
Mixed Media Collage exhibited at [un]raveled, May 2010.
